Triumph TR3-A RHD 1st Registered new in UK 15/10/1958 Original registration, Chassis and engine numbers. 23,000 miles recorded. Finished in Signal Red, black interior with white piping. 4 Speed Manual gearbox with overdrive 3rd and 4th Chrome wire wheels. Full Tonneau Cover, hood and side screens. This car formed part of a private collection and has only had 1 owner for the last 43 years. It was purchased in 1976 with the express intention of restoring it to concours condition. It was then the subject of a total body off chassis/nut and bolt mechanical restoration project, under the close supervision and watchful eye of the owner, who was also the general manager of the company who carried out the work. The entire car was stripped down to component form. Both the chassis, body shell and all body panels were sandblasted back to bare metal with all traces of corrosion removed before being prepared and repainted in primer, then refinished in signal red with numerous applications of top coat. All mechanical components, including the engine, transmission, suspension, steering and brakes were either striped and reconditioned or replaced with new parts. The rolling chassis was then completely reassembled including the engine, transmission, suspension, steering and brakes, then the finished body shell was reattached to the chassis. Finally, the car was re-wired and the interior was completely retrimmed to include seats, carpets, etc. and external brightwork refitted. The project took 30 months to completion and the car went on to succeed in winning its 1st concours event in 1979. The car has covered only 13,000 miles since 1976, evidenced by original mot certificates dating from 1980 to 2016 and has been dry stored throughout. The full story of the restoration was featured in an editorial with photos, in the inaugural edition in “Practical Classics” magazine of 1980. Original copy of the magazine along with the original photo album containing the original photographs documenting every stage of the car’s restoration, and heritage certificate, form a fascinating insight to this car’s history. It remains in outstanding condition throughout, giving testimony to the quality of the workmanship carried out over 43 years ago. This unique vehicle is offered for sale for the first time in 43 year
